Damayan Celebrates Community and Strengthening Power at the Annual Holiday Party and Fundraiser

New York, NY – Last weekend, Damayan members, supporters, and partners ended the year strong at the Damayan Annual Holiday Party and Fundraiser at The People’s Forum, a celebration of collective power, joy, and solidarity. 🎉

LC, a Damayan member and labor trafficking survivor, spoke about the abuses she endured and how she overcame them with the help of Damayan. Her spouse and four adult children also joined her after 11 years of being separated. 🤝🏽

Damayan members, including Lorie’s daughter, delivered joyful and energetic performances, including an unforgettable dance. Damayan Executive Director Riya Ortiz highlighted accomplishments from 2025, noting membership growth and engagement, leadership development, survivor empowerment, and expansion of critical services. Rose Alovera, Damayan Board Secretary, offered inspiring words, emphasizing the ongoing need to support Damayan’s mission and the community we serve. ✨

Participants enjoyed a warm cocktail hour and a full dinner featuring well-loved Filipino dishes, followed by a festive finale of gift exchanges, dancing, and singing. 🎶

We extend our deepest gratitude to the Damayan staff, Board, Fellows, volunteers, partner organizations, public officials, and everyone who celebrated with us. We also raised over $14,000 to fuel our movement for immigration and worker justice! Please help us reach our goal of raising $20K by donating today: https://www.damayanmigrants.org/hp25 💪🏽

Every donation, big or small, helps sustain our movement for justice, dignity, and worker power. ❤️
