The majority of Filipino migrant workers in the US are separated from their families back home. When Damayan labor trafficking survivor members won T-visas and became documented, they could be reunited with their children and other family members in the US. However, recently arrived children often struggled with adjusting to life in the US - at home, in school, and at work.

In 2015, Damayan launched Damayan ng Kabataan (Community of Youth), the youth organizing program for children of Damayan members who are domestic workers and labor trafficking survivors. It created a space for young people to educate and empower themselves, and get support as they navigate their new life in the US.
